A family owned, small business
Meet: Owner / Head Trainer, Julia
Julia has five dogs of her own and finds joy in rescue dogs as well as working and show dogs. In her spare time Julia enjoys studying pet nutrition, training with her personal dogs and dabbling in various dog sports and activities. If it involves dogs, Julia is always eager and jumps at the chance to learn/participate in something new. Julia is currently dedicated to training her dogs in dock diving as well as attending and participating in shows with her Doberman, Raya.
History
Julia’s love for studying animals and behavior began at a young age as she researched all she could and utilized all of her resources. Julia began volunteering at her local animal shelter when she met the age requirement of 16 yrs, and was quickly hired when she turned 18. Since then, Julia has spent extensive time working for multiple animal shelters and dog daycares while studying pack mentality. After years of watching shelter dogs she loved face an unfair fate due to aggression and other behavioral problems: she knew she had to learn how to professionally fix this behavior. She quickly found shadow ships and apprenticeships which lead to being brought on as a full time trainer.
Time to Grow
After years of working as a trainer, Julia decided to open her own business: Motivation K9. Her dog, Axel, inspired the name for her new company. As a former stray in California, Axel came to Julia nervous, easily scared, fearful of people and reactive. Axel was extremely difficult to motivate, so Julia spent countless hours working with him and building motivation and drive in order to get Axel past his fears. Julia realized her favorite part of dog training was building motivation in not only the dogs, the owners as well. Axel recently served as the neutral dog to help 5 dogs pass their CGC’s, and commonly helps Julia train other dogs.
Julia and her husband, Anthony, are proud owners of 4 rescue dogs and one working Doberman.
